Metrojet is pleased to announce that Metrojet Engineering Clark Ltd. (MEC) was officially opened for business on 5 June 2012.
An opening ceremony was held on Tuesday with over 120 guests attended, including Mr. Jose Perpetuo Lotilla – Undersecretary of Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) of The Philippines, Mr. Ramon S. Gutierrez – Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), Mr. Victor Jose Luciano – President of Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA), senior executives from Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), Clark Development Council (CDC), among others.
MEC is a joint venture between Metrojet and CAPP Industries Inc. of The Philippines, and it is the first overseas venture of the company. Located at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) in the Clark Freeport Zone near Pampanga, 40 miles north of Manila in the Philippines, MEC is a new Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility designed to expand both the heavy and line maintenance capabilities from its Hong Kong base.
The new facility is housed in more than 13,000 sq. ft. of hangar space with a 6,400 sq. ft. office building. It will offer an all-rounded and comprehensive range of aircraft services and support currently enjoyed in Hong Kong, including a dedicated document control area within the hangar, large bonded stores, a fully equipped avionics shop, as well as sheet metal and tire shops. There is also a plan to develop a cabin interior refurbishment capability depending on potential needs.
“The launch of MEC is an important milestone in our journey. The Clark facility not only marks the beginning of an international expansion for us, but also allows Metrojet to take advantage of the forecasted growth projections for business aviation in Asia. Metrojet will be able to offer clients, both existing and new, an additional MRO to maintain their aircraft to the highest international standards. We will continue to develop and expand this facility to accommodate the rising demand in the South East Asia region, and to deliver operational excellence to our clients and partners” said Bjӧrn Nӓf, CEO of Metrojet Ltd.
“Excellence can be highlighted throughout the Clark organization from the floor upwards. I look forward to enhancing any additional capabilities required by our clients, and to developing MEC as a compliment to the current capabilities from our Hong Kong base which is positioning to be the best MRO facilities in Asia” said Steve Hughes, Director of Maintenance and Engineering of Metrojet Ltd.
